Janis JOPLIN  Another movie about Janis

An indie producer wants to start shooting Janis Joplin biopic. The film will star Laura Theodore, a singer/actress who starred in a production of Love Janis, a play based on letters written by the singer. Roy Scheider will probably play Joplin's manager, Albert Grossman. The project is being developed by Connecticut-based filmmaker Joel L. Freedman, who wrote his screenplay from interviews with friends of Joplin.

At least two other companies have had Janis Joplin's projects in development for more than five years: Paramount-based Lakeshore Entertainment and New York-based Redeemable Features.
