Ian DURY

Дата рождения: 12 мая 1942

Ian Dury is the legendary English punk rocker, author of the song "Sex, Drugs & Rock-n-Roll." Before starting his rock career, Dury taught painting at the Canterbury College of Art. After having suffered polio in childhood, he was partially paralyzed. His first professional rock-group, Kilburn & the High Roads, was begun in 1970. Their debut album came out five years later. After the group disbanded, Dury organized Kilburn Davey Payne, which later turned into the famous Ian Dury and the Blockheads. The group included John Turnbull, Mickey Gallagher, Norman Watt Roy and Charley Charles. It wasn't until 1977 that they were met with serious success, with the release of their album, "New Boots and Panties!!" two songs from which immediately became hits: "What a Waste" and "Sex, Drugs & Rock-n-Roll." Ian Dury died on March 27, 2000. Not from drugs, not from sex, and not from rock-n-roll, but, like many people, from cancer.
