Джош Клингхоффер (Josh Clinghoffer) - гитара

Четыре друга - певец Кидис, басист Майкл Бальзари по прозвищу "Блоха" (то есть Flea), гитарист Хиллель Словак (Hillel Slovak) и барабанщик Джек Айронс () впервые собрались в 1983 году. Правда, Словак и Айронс играли еще и в группе What Is This?, у которой имелся жесткий контракт с фирмой MCAю Поэтому как только дошло до записи альбома, место гитариста и барабанщика заняли Джек Шерман и Клифф Мартинес. Но этот состав дальше первого альбома не продержался: Кидис с Шерманом не ужились - пришлось вернуть Словака. Ну а после второго диска группы - "Freaky Styley", который, как и первый, коммерческого успеха не снискал, - в группу вернулся и Айронс.

И третий альбом, "The Uplift Mofo Party Plan" оказался куда успешней своих предшественников - сказался, видимо, оригинальный состав. Правда, радость была недолгой: у Словака…
